Visitation: 4:00 – 7:00 pm, Wednesday, Augat Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.įuneral Service: 7:00 pm, Wednesday, Augat Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with Pastor Nancy Hubert officiating. She also enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, friends, walks in her neighborhood, and watching the sun rise with her coffee. She was involved with the Bradley Chief’s Club, an avid Bradley basketball fan, supporter of the Boys and Girls Club of the Greater Peoria area, and active with the Rochester Library Book Clubs. She enjoyed reading, learning, and traveling. She worked in the healthcare and education fields throughout her career and retired as an Associate Professor at Bradley University in 2007. She graduated from Elsberry High School as valedictorian in 1960 and went on to receive a Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 1980, a Master’s Degree in Education in 1983, both from SIU-Edwardsville and later went on to receive her Doctorate in Education from Illinois State University in 2004. ![]() Sandra was a resident of Rochester for the past two years and previously resided in Peoria. She later married Nick Adkins on July 5, 2003, and is survived by stepchildren: Jeff Adkins of Little York, IL, Scott (Maria) Adkins and Nickki Adkins, both of Peoria, eleven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, three brothers: Leon Fakes and David (LaVerna) Fakes, both of Elsberry, MO and Wesely (Marcia) Fakes of Albuquerque, NM, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Sandra married Jack Clay in 1960, and they had four children: Deborah (Terry) Green of Asheboro, NC, David (Chris) Clay of Gillespie, IL, Timothy (Vanessa) Clay of Lake Worth, FL, and Andrew (Christina) Clay of Gulf Shores, AL.
